Malawi & Mozambique Rapid Access Expansion Program

From 2013 – 2017, Save the Children is working in Malawi and Mozambique to reduce under-five mortality and morbidity in program areas, through the expansion of the use of high-quality integrated Community Case Management (iCCM) services at the community level. This is to be achieved through:

  • Improving access to iCCM services;
  • Improving the quality of iCCM services;
  • Improving health seeking behaviour and demand;
  • Facilitating the creation of an enabled environment to support, sustain and scale up iCCM.

What we’re doing:

  • Identifying, training and deploying community health workers to offer iCCM services
  • Strengthening supply chain system in procurement and distribution of commodities for use by community health workers
  • Organizing social mobilization activities and supporting the development of community health committees
  • Conducting operations research to document and analyze outcomes of program activities to influence policy and strategy
